Driver arrested over Jack Ellison death in Sedbergh

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing a teenager's death in a road crash in Cumbria.

Jack Ellison, 19, from Dent, was in a Nissan Navara which crashed on the A684 at Lincolns Inn Bridge near Sedbergh. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving and was bailed until 11 August.

Mr Ellison's devastated family said he was "admired and respected".

A statement said: "Jack was very well known in the Dale, he loved living in Dent and was planning a future that kept him close to his family and friends.

"Since leaving school he has established a very successful business supplying local folk and businesses with firewood.

"Jack leaves behind a devastated family and is a great loss to the community where he was admired and respected."

Cumbria Police said other passengers in the Nissan Navara were hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
