Heroin worth 400k found in car stopped on M6 in Cumbria

A man has been charged after police seized heroin with a street value of £400,000 from a car which was stopped on the M6 in Cumbria.

Officers from Cumbria Police halted the Vauxhall Astra near Burton-in-Kendal as part of a routine operation.

A force spokesman said about 5kg of heroin was discovered in the vehicle.

A 31-year-old man from Glasgow is due before South Lakeland magistrates on 1 November charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.
