Safer £95,000 Wigton cycle route opens

A £95,000 cycle route which will make it safer for Cumbria children to ride to school has been officially opened.

The Wigton cycle network, which runs from Greenacres to West road, via Phoenix Park, to the junior school, took three years to plan and develop.

Cumbria county councillor Joe Cowel said the path will improve safety for students in the area.

Funding for the route was provided by the Department of Transport and cycling charity Sustrans.
