Eden Arts gets £93,000 boost from district council

An agency which promotes arts and culture in an area of Cumbria has received a £93,000 boost.

Eden District Council is giving the money to Eden Arts and already provides rent-free accommodation for the organisation in Penrith.

A spokeswoman for the council said that despite the current climate of "financial austerity" it valued the work of the agency.

She said its work helped attract more visitors and shoppers to the district.

Eden District Council's deputy leader Mary Robinson, said was delighted they could "continue to support the work of Eden Arts which so many people hold in high regard".
