Warning after Harraby bogus delivery man cons man, 84

Police are warning people to be on their guard after an elderly man was conned out of cash by a bogus caller.

Police said he tricked the 84-year-old, who lives in the Harraby area of Carlisle, into handing over £60 in exchange for a parcel.

The victim handed over the money, but when he opened the package he found it contained worthless watches.

The caller, who was smartly dressed and with an Italian accent, targeted his victim on Friday.
