Carlisle's Concrete manager seriously injured in attack

Five men and a woman have been arrested after a Carlisle nightclub manager was attacked and left with head injuries.

Police said the manager of Concrete, Tim Ip, 26, was attacked by a group at the Lowther Arcade at 02:00 BST.

Three men from Carlisle and two men and a woman from Southampton have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Mr Ip was taken to Cumberland Infirmary and was later transferred to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Mr Ip's condition is described as serious.

Det Ch Insp Lee Johnson said: "As the manager of a popular nightclub, Mr Ip is well-known in the area and we, along with his family, believe that there are people out there who will have witnessed this assault."
