Cumbrian man jailed for killing friend in a car crash

A Cumbrian man has been jailed for three years for killing his best friend in a car crash while he was two times over the drink-drive limit.

Carlisle Crown Court heard 22-year-old Neil Bentham, from Outrake Foot in Sedbergh, had been on a Young Farmers night out in Penrith in May 2011.

Jack Ellison, 19, from Dent, was one of three back seat passengers in the car, and died at the scene.

Bentham pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in jail.
