Motorcyclist dies in road crash in Cumbria

A motorcyclist died when his machine was involved in a collision with a car near Egremont in Cumbria.

It happened at 19:40 BST on the A595 near the Blackbeck Inn near Egremont. The 52-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene.

A 56-year-old man, who was driving a Vauxhall Astra, was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed while police investigated the accident.
