Pigs attacked and killed on Ulverston farm

Three pigs were killed in an attack on a herd of prize breeding sows in Cumbria.

The attack happened at farmer Robert Rose's "Valley of the Pigs" site in Finsthwaite, Ulverston, between 23:30 BST on Monday and 09:30 BST on Tuesday.

Six pigs were stabbed with a knife. Three died and three were left seriously injured.

A police spokesman warned other farmers to be vigilant. Mr Rose offered a £20,000 reward for information.

He said he would give the sum to anyone who provided information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprits.

He said: "These pigs were a part of our family, and it is outrageous that the [killer] is just walking around.

"I have offered the reward because we will do whatever we have to bring these people to justice."
