Teenager charged after 16-year-old Barrow girl stabbed

A 19-year-old man has been charged after a teenage girl was stabbed in the back on a Cumbria street.

The 16-year-old was attacked in St Luke's Avenue, Barrow-in-Furness, on Saturday night. She was treated in hospital but later discharged.

Police have now charged the local man with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and theft.

He is due to appear before Furness Magistrates' Court later.
