Samuel McIlveen denies causing death of Robin Hewitt in crash

A man has appeared in court accused of causing the death of a young father.

Robin Hewitt, 19, died when the BMW car he was a passenger in crashed on the B5320 at Eamont Bridge, near Penrith, Cumbria, on 7 March last year.

At Carlisle Crown Court, Samuel McIlveen, 24, of Carleton Terrace, Penrith, pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

Mr McIlveen was remanded on bail and a trial date was set for 22 September.

Mr Hewitt, of Milner Mount, Penrith was pronounced dead at the scene.
