Woman dies in car crash on B5300 near Maryport

A woman died when the car she was driving came off the road near Maryport in Cumbria.

Police said the S-type Jaguar left the B5300 near to the Crosscanonby junction at about 23:20 BST on Tuesday.

The woman, who has not been named, but was in her 40s and from Maryport, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said no other vehicles were involved. The B5300 was closed for several hours to allow access for crash scene investigators.
