Cumbria Police officer charged with child sex offences

A police officer has been charged with child sex offences.

Nicholas Pool is accused of making indecent images of a child and attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity - offences alleged to have occurred while he was off duty.

Mr Pool, of Newton Rigg, Penrith, appeared before magistrates in Cumbria and has been remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 8 March.

He was an officer with Cumbria Police until recently.
