Barrow murder probe: Man dies after suspected assault

A murder inquiry has begun following the death of a man in Barrow.

Emergency services were called to an address in Gloucester Street just after 07:00 GMT on Sunday following reports a 31-year-old had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The man had injuries consistent with an assault and later died, police said.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the death, Cumbria Police confirmed, with one in custody and the other in hospital.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is being questioned.

A 39-year-old man has also been arrested and is in hospital following a suspected drugs overdose.
