A bus firm has confirmed it is withdrawing one of its services from Derby's new bus station because its location is causing delays.

Trent Barton will move the Mickleover service from the station to its former stop on Albert Street.

The bus company carried out a passenger consultation and more than 80% of those who responded supported the change.

A spokesperson for Trent Barton confirmed the move would come into effect from 3 October.

Trent Barton said: "Our in-depth monitoring has revealed that the route to the new bus station can take the Mickleover up to seven extra minutes by negotiating the traffic lights, waiting for buses to reverse, waiting to approach our stand and then leaving the bus station again.

"This has contributed to the delays. Terminating at Albert Street will offer us valuable time to allow us to start journeys from the city on time."
