Warning over speeding motorists in Derbyshire

Police say motorists who are speeding along a restricted road in Derbyshire are putting people's safety at risk.

People living on Queen Street and Pike's Lane in Glossop have told police they are worried about non-residents speeding down the access-only roads.

Pc Rob Valentin said residents are concerned someone will be injured.

He said officers were patrolling the areas and culprits will be given warnings followed by fixed penalty notices.

Pc Valentin said: "Access only means that only residents and visitors can use these roads.

"I recently spoke to an eight-year-old girl who was quite distressed after both her cat and dog had been run over and killed by drivers who admitted that they did not live there and were not visiting anyone."
