A purge on dangerous driving in Derbyshire saw more than 69 motorists fined or warned in a five hour period.

Police and road safety officials stopped vehicles on a stretch of the A52 in Brailsford.

Offences included 37 people not wearing a seatbelt, 17 drivers exceeding the speed limit and a further 11 motorists for using a mobile phone.

Officers seized one car after the driver was found to be driving without an appropriate licence.

Sgt Steve Edwards said: "Residents in Brailsford have told us that they are concerned about unsafe driving in the area.

"I hope that these checks will also act as a reminder to motorists about their responsibility to be both safe and also considerate drivers."
