Scooter man dies after A38 crash in Derbyshire


A man has been fatally injured in a five-vehicle crash on the A38 in Derbyshire.

The accident, involving three vans, a lorry and a Piaggio 125cc scooter, happened at about 0650 BST at Kilburn on the Derby-bound carriageway.

The rider of the scooter, a 48-year-old man from Sutton-in-Ashfield, died later at the Royal Derby Hospital.

The road was closed for about five hours and diversions put in place as officers carried out investigations.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
