Work starts on £1.5m disabled facility in Derbyshire

Work has started on a £1.5m holiday facility for children and young people with disabilities in Derbyshire.

The single-storey complex at Lea Green, near Matlock, will have six bedrooms, a sensory room and an outdoor adventure area.

The county council said the facility will be able to be booked for short breaks by families or organisations working with disabled children.

The centre is expected to be finished by March 2011.

Funding for the development has come from the Government's Aiming High for Disabled Children grant.
