Panels stolen from Ridgeway war memorial

Police have visited scrap metal dealers after plaques were stolen from a war memorial in Derbyshire.

The four brass panels, along with a small sundial, were stolen from the site in Ridgeway overnight on Friday.

The plaques are dedicated to "Ridgeway's fallen heroes" and contain the names of 18 local men who lost their lives in World War I.

Officers appealed for information and said scrap dealers had been told to report any suspicious inquiries.
