Former Derby museum is site of autism centre

A centre for adults with autism has opened on the site of a former museum in Derbyshire.

The Derventio Heritage Village in Derby opened in 2006 at a cost of £1m but, due to low visitor numbers, closed in February 2007.

The new Aspect centre replaces two sites in Mackworth and Normanton, offering support for up to 20 adults with learning disabilities and autism.

The centre has bright comfortable areas designed to reduce users' anxiety.
