Inmate absconds from Sudbury open prison

A man found guilty of wounding with intent and burglary has absconded from a Derbyshire open prison.

Ryan Oates, 26, previously of Windmill Rise, Alfreton, left HMP Sudbury on Wednesday and failed to return.

He was given an indeterminate prison sentence for his offences in June 2007 at Derby Crown Court.

Oates is described as 5ft 6in tall, of medium build, with a scar on his nose. Anyone with information should contact Derbyshire Police.
