Cyclists and walkers are being warned a new section of a popular Derbyshire footpath is to be temporarily closed.

The Monsal Trail, between Bakewell and Wye Dale in the Peak District, is undergoing a £2.25m project to reopen old railway tunnels.

A section between Upperdale and Monsal Head was closed in early February.

From Monday, the path from Millers Dale to Blackwell Mill will be closed to allow construction work, with both sections due to reopen in April.

Other parts of the trail will also be affected by construction traffic and warning signs have been put up to explain the work taking place.

Much of the route is along the old Midland Railway Line and four tunnels are being reopened to the public.
