Police action on Peartree street drinking

  • Published

Police officers in part of Derby say a project to tackle street drinking is working well.

The project began after a number of residents complained to police about anti-social behaviour caused by street drinkers.

On 27 May, officers issued 17 people with warnings about drinking on the street and two people were ordered to move on and not return within 24 hours.

Pc John Anwar said he had since seen a drop in the number of complaints.

"We are working hard to resolve this priority and hopefully the local community can see that we are taking their concerns seriously," said Pc Anwar.

"We fully intend to carry out further action later this month, so the warning is there for people."
