Car found after cash box robbery at Tesco in Ilkeston

Police have recovered a car used in a cash box robbery at a supermarket in Derbyshire.

A man wearing a balaclava threatened a G4S security guard outside Tesco in Rutland Street, Ilkeston, during the robbery on Monday.

The suspects fled in a black Volkswagen Golf which was recovered the next day, Derbyshire Police said.

A "significant amount of cash" was stolen in the raid, but no weapons were seen and no-one was hurt, police said.

Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen the black Volkswagen Golf car in the Ilkeston area.

The car, which was previously stolen from Leicestershire, was recovered in Muskham Avenue in Ilkeston.

It is believed the offenders abandoned the car and then drove away in a Ford Focus.
