Witnesses to a stabbing in which a father and son were injured have been urged to contact Derbyshire Police.

Officers were called to Waverley Street, Long Eaton, at about 05:00 BST on Saturday.

The teenager, 16, was released from hospital on Sunday but his 45-year-old father remains in a critical-but-stable condition, police said.

Detectives have been studying CCTV footage of the area and are conducting house-to-house inquiries.

A police spokesperson added witnesses had reported seeing a group of men leaving the scene in a black car.

The injured pair were taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre for treatment, where the older victim remains.
