Ashbourne road to close for major repairs

A Derbyshire road is to be closed overnight to repair damage done by harsh winter weather.

A two-mile stretch of the A515 Buxton Road from Ashbourne to Fenny Bentley has suffered from potholes and cracks.

The county council is spending £90,000 to make good the surface but warned this would mean the road shutting completely between 19:00 and 06:00.

The work will continue into next week and officials said a diversion would be in place.

The closure will be suspended at the weekend.

Simon Spencer, deputy leader and cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: "This road has been particularly hard hit over the past few winters and we hope people will bear with us while this important maintenance work is carried out."
