Drivers caught without seatbelts in Chaddesden

Nearly 50 motorists have been caught not wearing their seatbelts in a police operation in a Derbyshire town.

Warnings and fixed penalty notices were given to 48 drivers who were not wearing a seatbelt and 20 drivers using their mobile phones in Chaddesden.

A further 22 drivers whose vehicles were found to have serious defects were ordered to put their cars through an MOT before going back on the road.

The roadside checks carried out last week were part of Operation Sphinx.
