Toddler death: pair bailed over Belper boy's death

The mother of a two-year-old boy and a man have been released on bail after appearing in court charged with the toddler's manslaughter.

Riley Pettipierre died in hospital after falling ill at his home in Kilbourne Road in Belper, Derbyshire, on 13 March.

Sally Dent, 32, and Shaun Binfield, 44, both of Kilbourne Road, were released on bail by Nottingham Crown Court.

The pair are due to appear back at the same court on 15 June.

Ms Dent and Mr Binfield were given conditional bail at Nottingham Crown Court on 16 March.

A post-mortem examination on the boy proved inconclusive but a Derbyshire Police spokesman said they were still awaiting the results of toxicology tests.
