Man in court over Sadler Gate killing

A Derby man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murder.

Ashley Finlay, 24, of Spondon, died soon after being found in Sadler Gate, Derby, at 03:30 BST on Monday.

Thomas Paul Cullen, 29, from Taylor Street, was charged on Tuesday and appeared before magistrates in Derby.

The case has been sent for trial at Nottingham Crown Court but any bail application will be heard in Derby on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination has taken place but police have not yet eleased details of how Mr Finlay died.
