Draycott man in car theft gang chase

A Derbyshire man was rammed off the road while chasing thieves who stole two vehicles from his parents' home.

A gang broke into the property in Gypsy Lane, Draycott, at about midnight on Wednesday, said police.

The son got into his car and began searching the area for the thieves. His car was rammed off the road on Gypsy Lane, causing it to go into a ditch.

He was unhurt and returned to the house, following the gang in another car before flagging down a police car.

One of the stolen vehicles, a Fiat Ducato, was later found abandoned in Alonso Close, Chellaston, near a BMW which had been stolen from a house in King Street, Ashbourne, the previous evening.

Police are investigating whether the thefts are linked.

The man seen driving the Ducato was white, stocky, in his 30s with short dark hair and was wearing a black jacket.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Derbyshire Police.
