Child car seats fail safety tests in Derbyshire

Almost 80% of child car seats tested during a recent spot check in Derbyshire were improperly fitted.

Sixty-two out of 79 car seats failed the spot check at a Chesterfield supermarket, Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership said.

Derbyshire County Council teamed up with car seat fitters to offer advice during the spot checks.

Partnership chairman Mike Ashworth said: "Seats must be fitted properly to offer maximum protection."
