Fake vodka seized in Derby, prompting Trading Standards warning

Hundreds of bottles of fake vodka have been seized in Derby, prompting a warning from Trading Standards officers.

An examination of the seized product, Double D Vodka, has revealed it contains industrial alcohol - a chemical usually found in paint stripper.

The goods were seized from a Normanton off licence in a raid in April.

A woman, 64, was arrested and released on bail after the raid.

Another product seized by officers in the Normanton raid, Five Lakes Vodka, had such a low alcohol level that it cannot legally be called vodka.
