Drugs death of man in Derbyshire sparks investigation

A 40-year-old Derbyshire man has died in hospital after apparently taking illegal drugs.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the Langwith man.

Officers were called by staff at Kings Mill Hospital, near Mansfield, on Friday morning after the man arrived suffering from cardiac arrest.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said it was believed he had taken amphetamine and M-CAT, also known as mephedrone.

A second man, aged 18, also from the Langwith area was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said it was suspected he had also taken amphetamine and M-CAT with the 40-year-old man.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs.
