Derby bus firm Arriva confirms service cut

Some bus services in Derby have been cut after the operator reviewed costs.

Arriva Midlands has stopped evening and Sunday buses on route 32 to Littleover and reduced route 28 and 29 to every 12 minutes.

The firm said falling passenger numbers and the rising cost of fuel had meant they either had to increase fares substantially or cut the services.

It added new timetables would soon be available from the main bus station and online.

Marketing and Communications Manager, Keith Myatt, said "We can't continue to pass these costs on to our customers by increasing fares and we cannot afford to run journeys that no one uses.

"We have tried to keep the cuts to a minimum and will continue to operate evening and Sunday services to most areas of Derby without subsidy."

He added the decision has been taken in consultation with the city council.
