Thousands of homes were left without water and three schools had to close after a water pipe burst in Derbyshire.

Severn Trent Water said the pipe split in Church Lane, in Morley and in Stanley, near Ilkeston on Wednesday.

On Thursday the company said supplies were back on in the areas of Spondon, Ockbrook and Dale Abbey, but homes could experience low pressure.

Ockbrook School and Redhill Primary School, in Ockbrook, and West Park School, in Spondon, closed for the day.

Engineers have been repairing the burst water pipe and have had to close Church Lane, in Morley. A diversion is in place.

Severn Trent have apologised to people affected by the problems.
