Armed gang raid Derby couple's house

A Derby couple were forced to hand over cash and jewellery in a "frightening ordeal" after an armed gang raided their home.

The woman, 64, and her 78-year-old partner answered their door in St James Road, Normanton, late on Wednesday and four people came in.

The three men and one woman, who had a gun, demanded valuables, which were handed over and the group ran off.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

One of the men was described as black, in his mid-40s, 6ft (1.83m) tall and stocky and carrying a small gun. The other two men were black, in their late 30s and of medium build.

The woman was white, in her mid-20s, around 5ft (1.52m) tall and slim.

Det Sgt Steve Shaw, of Pear Tree CID, said: "This was a very frightening ordeal for the victims who were understandably left upset and shaken by what happened.

"I would ask anyone with information, or anyone who saw this group of people in the area at the time, to come forward."
