A 71-year old woman was seriously injured and her dog was killed when they were hit by a car on a crossing in Derbyshire, police said.

It happened at about about 16:30 GMT on Friday on the A52 at Brailsford, near Ashbourne.

Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene and appealed for witnesses to contact them.
