Fourth consecutive drop in Devon's jobless claimants

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Devon has fallen for the fourth consecutive month.

Figures from the Office of National Statistics show there were 8,292 claimants in June - down by 422 on the previous month.

It represents 1.9% of the population and is considerably lower than the national average of 3.8%.

Across the UK, the number of people claiming unemployment benefit also fell last month by 20,800 to 1.46 million.

The ONS figures show unemployment fell by 34,000 in the UK to 2.47m in the three months to May.
