Plymouth police attack dog faces destruction

Senior police officers are applying to a court to have a dog that attacked a policewoman destroyed.

Officials are applying to magistrates in Plymouth for the order as the officer recovers from surgery to stomach and arm wounds.

She was attacked in Whitleigh on Monday before police dog handlers, a vet and staff from the Dartmoor Zoological Park were called in to sedate the dog.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog out of control.
