A dog has savaged a woman in Plymouth, less than a week after a policewoman was attacked by another pet.

The 27-year-old woman suffered serious injuries to her legs, hips and an arm when the dog attacked her in Ham on Wednesday evening.

Police are hunting the "Staffy-type dog", which has long legs and was wearing a black collar.

A policewoman suffered serious injuries on 13 August when she was attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

That animal has been seized by police and faces destruction. A woman has been arrested and bailed.

The latest attack happened as the woman walked her two dogs in the Tewkesbury Close area.

Police are appealing for information from witnesses.
