Woman 'critical' after pile-up on M5 in Devon
A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a multiple-vehicle crash on the M5 in Devon, police said.
Six others were taken to hospital after the accident on the northbound carriageway at Cullompton, near Exeter, between junctions 29 and 28.
Some of those injured in the crash, which happened at about 2100 BST on Thursday, were airlifted to hospital by a rescue helicopter from RAF Kinloss.
The road was closed in both directions as firefighters cut the injured free.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the 21-year-old woman who was critically injured was being treated in Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
Among the others taken to hospital was a one-year-old girl. She was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol as a precaution.
A number of less seriously injured people are believed to have been treated at the scene.
