Thieves steal five diggers and dumper in Exeter

Police are investigating the theft of machinery valued at £100,000 from a depot in Exeter.

Five diggers and a dumper were stolen from the Morris William Plant Hire site in Marsh Barton.

Police believe that the thieves used a large truck with a white cab and blue curtain sides to remove them.

Four grey and red Takeuchi excavators, a grey and red Yanmar excavator and a yellow Terex dumper were taken in the raid late on Thursday night.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "This is a high value theft and would have taken a considerable amount of organisation to carry off.

"Due to the number and size of vehicles taken it is also likely there would have been a number of people who may have seen the vehicles being transported."
