Figures reveal further drop in Devon jobless claimants

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Devon has fallen slightly.

There were 8,188 claimants in September - down 20 from August, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.

The total accounts for 1.8% of the county's population and remains much lower than the UK average of 7.7%.

It is the sixth consecutive month there has been a fall in the county.
