Man, 82, dies after A30 Whiddon Down crash

A man has died in hospital after being critically injured in a car crash on the A30 in Devon on Saturday.

The 82-year-old, believed to be from Hayle, Cornwall, died in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital on Tuesday.

He was injured in the crash on the A30 at Whiddon Down, the main trunk road between Devon and Cornwall.

A man, 56, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving without due care and attention. He has been released on police bail.

Two cars and a lorry were involved in the collision, in which there were no other serious injuries.

The road was closed for 10 hours for accident investigations and vehicle recovery.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
