Weapon missing from shooting victim's home in Plymouth

A weapon belonging to a man who was found with gunshot wounds in Devon is missing, police have said.

The man in his 50s was discovered at a house in Glade Close in the Derriford area of Plymouth on Wednesday evening.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the victim was a shotgun licence holder who kept a number of guns in a secure cabinet.

One of those is missing, although officers do not know if it was the weapon used in the crime.

The man, who has not been named, underwent surgery for a shoulder wound at Derriford Hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

Det Insp Costa Nassaris said the shooting was a "rare" incident for Plymouth.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
