Residents urged to check on others during cold weather

Residents in Devon are being urged to visit their neighbours and relatives during the cold weather.
Plymouth City Council said people should check on those who may be vulnerable to the severe cold.
Councillor Grant Monahan said: "It [cold weather] can make the symptoms of heart or breathing problems worse. It doesn't take much to check on someone."
He said to be aware of warning signs such as newspapers being left outside or curtains staying closed.
The council said advice about keeping warm, winter finances and staying healthy in the cold weather was also available on its website.
