Electricity substation explodes in Totnes
An electricity substation has exploded in south Devon.
Two fire crews were called to the site in Denys Road, Totnes, at about 2315 GMT on Saturday after the incident involving an 11,000-volt transformer.
The 16ft by 16ft (5m by 5m) single-storey structure, used by Western Power Distribution, was partially demolished, the fire service said.
The cause was believed to be accidental. There were no reports of any injuries.
After the fire was brought under control, the site was handed back to Western Power Distribution, the fire service said.
There were no reports of any homes losing power because of the incident.
