A council-run swimming pool in Plymouth has been closed for essential maintenance work.
Plympton pool shut its doors on Monday - the first day of the school Christmas holiday period - and will not reopen until 4 January.
Plymouth City Council said the closure was necessary to partially drain the main swimming pool and re-grout the baby pool.
A council spokesman said the Christmas period was the best time for the work.
"We have to ensure our pools are kept in good repair and we hope swimmers will bear with us while this essential work is carried out," Councillor Peter Brookshaw said.
"We always try to carry out work in December and January as this is the quietest time of year for all our pools."
The council's Central Park swimming pool will only be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
