Man remortgages house after being duped in scam

A Devon man took out a "substantial" remortgage after being duped by a land-buying scam, police have said.
The Tavistock man responded to a call and sent "significant" sums of money off, but never received land deeds.
Police have also warned of a "ringing the changes" scam, in which customers ask to change one note type to another.
While the cashier changes the money, the customer goes back on their request, confusing the cashier, who finds themselves short-changed.
Both scams have been operating in the market town area.
Sgt Dave Anning, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "If you receive a phone call making you a tempting offer, check it out thoroughly and ensure you meet a real person before you hand over a penny."
